Assoc. Prof. Edmund Chiong is presently the Head and Senior Consultant of the Department of Urology, National University Hospital, Singapore. He is also an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Urologic Oncology Tumour Programme Lead, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore. Assoc. Prof. Chiong completed of his Urology specialist training in Singapore and subsequently underwent a 2-year clinical fellowship program in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, USA. His sub-specialty interest is in Urologic Oncology and performing DaVinci robotic surgery. His research interests include investigating new therapies and diagnostic modalities for urologic malignancies. He also runs a number of clinical trials in bladder and prostate cancer. Assoc. Prof. Chiong is currently Chairman of the Chapter of Urologists (College of Surgeons), Academy of Medicine, Singapore, is Past President (2016-2018) and current Board of Trustees member of the Singapore Urological Association, and Chairman of the Examinations Committee for Urology and Board member, Residency Advisory Committee / Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST), Ministry of Health, Singapore. He is also the Deputy Chairman, Scientific Committee, Urological Association of Asia (UAA), a member of the American Urological Association, European Association of Urology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Hsiao-Jen Chung received his medical degree from National Yang Ming University (Taiwan), and completed his residency at the Chutung Veterans Hospital in Hsinchu and the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. He was previously a Research Fellow at the University of California-San Francisco.
Dr. Chung is an active member of the Surgical Association and Urological Association of the Republic of China and also an active member of Endourological Society, European Association of Urology, Société Internationale d’Urologie, and Urological Association of Asia. He has published more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals to date and specializes in urological oncology, laparoscopic surgery, and da Vinci surgery.
Dr. Chung is currently the Chief of the Division of General Urology, Department of Urology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and also serves as an assistant professor at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He is also currently a chairperson of both the Robotic Surgical System Task Force and the Genitourinary Cancer Multidiscipline Team at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.
In April 2004, Shin Egawa was appointed the 6th chairman and Professor of Department of Urology, Jikei University School of Medicine. Presently, the Department of Urology, under Professor Egawa’s leadership, has 96 members (including 23 residents) serving at the Jikei University Hospital, Three attached hospitals, and sixteen affiliated hospitals. Its main clinical areas include urologic oncology, gynecological urology, pediatric urology, neurourology, and laparoscopic surgery. In research, its main fields of concentration are the study of exosomes, microRNAs in prostate cancer and other urological malignancies. With the world becoming increasingly globalized, the Department will promote even more active communication with fellow physicians in other countries on both the clinical and research fronts.
Assoc Prof Henry Ho is the Head and Senior Consultant with the Department of Urology, Singapore General Hospital. A/Prof Ho received his MBBS and Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore, and was subsequently elected a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. A/Prof Ho was the first doctor in SGH/SingHealth to be awarded the Singapore-Stanford Biodesign (SSB) Fellowship Award by A*STAR in 2011.
A passionate medical device innovator, he contributed significantly to the successful set-up of the Device Development Office - now the Medical Technological Office (MTO) SingHealth, where he held the Director appointment since 2012. He is the Vice-Chair (Research) of the Surgery Academic Clinical Program. He was awarded the Singhealth Excellence Award 2019 as ‘Distinguished Champion of Change Leader Award.’ He was the Past Chairman of the Prostate Cancer Awareness and Survivorship Program with the Singapore Cancer Society.
Dr Ho also holds appointments as Adjunct Associate Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer with NUS-Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Prof. William J. Huang had his post-doctoral fellowship training for male reproductive medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas from 1997-1998. His advisors were Prof. Larry Lipshultz and Prof. Doroles Lamb. He was promoted to full professor at NYMU in 2011, and becomes Chief of Department of Urology, School of Medicine of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University since 2012, and the Director of Department of Urology at Taipei VGH since 2018. He also served as the President of Taiwanese Association of Andrology from 2014-2017. He is an expert in diagnose and treat patients with male infertility. Particularly all kinds of azoospermia. He uses microdissecting TESE (mTESE) to retrieve sperm from patients with non-obstructive azoospermia, including undescended testicle, and Klinefelter syndrome. He also treat patients with obstructive azoospermia, via microscopic vasoepididymostomy. His academic interests are on the research of azoospermia, and hypogonadism. Especially reproductive disorders from endocrinological diseases. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed paper, and serves as Editor of Andrology, JCMA and Urological Science. He is also active reviewers for Journals of the urological and andrological fields, such as Eur Urol, J Urol, Endocrinology, BJUI, JCB, Andrology, Andrologia, Urology, Fertil Steril etc.
Dr Takaai Inoue is the Vice of president, Head of Endourological Stone Surgery Center in Hara Genitourinary Private Hospital, Kobe, Japan, and also, Associate Professor in Kobe University in Japan. My specialization is endourologic surgery such as BPH, Stone (fURS, PCNL, and ECIRS), UTUC etc. Especially, my remarkable point is flexible URS and ECIRS procedures. And then, I am proceeding to spread the educational methods and creation of endourology with hands-on training, active presentation and using through online in now era around Asia. My research is going on regarding with basic endourological experiment, clinical research (Surgery, Patient’s QOL etc), and training＆education.
ABSTRACT: Current status of retrograde intrarenal surgery for urolithiasis and future perspectives
As a Consultant since January 1997 and Head of Department of Paediatric of Surgery since November 1999, Professor Jacobsen has been able to spearhead the development of Minimally Invasive Surgery. She has surgical experience in both General Pediatric Surgical and Pediatric Urology. In Paediatric Urology she has developed the Urodynamic Service and with the Paediatricians, a dysfunctional voiding clinic. She oversees the Advanced Specialty Training of Paediatric Surgeons in Singapore.
She also oversees the undergraduate medical students from NUS YLLSoM during their clinical posting in KKH since 2012. She has served on many organising committees with the Academy of Medicine and following her Chairmanship in organising for AAPS, she was honoured to be elected for the President of AAPS on November 2004. She has since moved to being a Secretary General for AAPS.
She was an Examiner to FRCS/MRCSE since 2002 and she was appointed Chairman of International Medical Programme for KKH with effect from 1 April 2004.
In the hospital, she serves on the Medical Board. She is chairing the KK Regional Outreach Committee and she is a member of Tissue Audit Committee from Year 2000. She also served on the Emergency Planning Committee. She was the Editor of KK Review Journal Committee from 2000 – 2004. She was Adviser to the KK Review Journal Committee 2004-2006.
She is a member of the Specialist Accreditation Committee, Paediatric Surgery and she serves as the Panel of Experts for Subordinate Court Mediation as appointed by the Ministry of Health. She also serves the Medical Council on mediation and medico legal matters.
In the past, she has served on Infection Control Committee and DRG Steering Committee in the hospital. She has been member of organising committees for the Academy of Medicine seven times for the Surgical Combined Meeting, as well as other regional and international meetings:
She liaises with various charitable organizations to get funding for overseas trainees to come to Singapore to study. She runs the KKROK programme where we bring in disadvantaged kids needing surgery to KKH, and fund their treatment fully or partially. She also travel regionally to treat patients, teach and train local doctors.
Dr Shina Kawai is the Staff Physician of Pediatric Urology at Okinawa Prefectural Nanbu Medical Center & Children's Medical Center. She graduated from the University of the Ryukyus School of Medicine. She is a member of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Urology.
Dr. Takashi Kobayashi graduated from Kyoto University and obtained M.D. in 1998. He obtained Ph.D. from Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 2010. He has been appointed to an Associate Professor at the Department of Urology, Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine since 2020. His research interest is focused on urological oncology and renal transplantation. Dr. Kobayashi is a board-certificated urologist and renal transplant surgeon by Japanese Urological Association (JUA), Japanese Society of Endourology (JSE) and Japanese Society for Clinical Renal Transplantation (JSCRT). He has contributed to several JUA or JSE Clinical Guideline Committees including Bladder Cancer (2015 and 2019), Prostate Cancer (2021), and Urological Laparoscopic Surgery (2020 and 2022). He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles in the literature. Dr. Kobayashi has been a Co-opt member of UAA as The Chief Editor of Asian Urology since 2018.
Hsiang Ying Lee
Professor Hsiang Ying Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at Kaohsiung Medical University. She is also an attending physician in the Department of Urology at Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital/ Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital. She graduated from the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University.
Dr Hao-Lun Luo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at Kaoshiun Chang GUng Memorial Hospital. He graduated from Kaohsiung Medical University with a PHD in Medical Research and is a member of council in the Taiwan Urological Oncology Association.
Anthony CF Ng
Dr NG Chi Fai, Anthony, graduated in the Chinese university of Hong Kong. After his basic training, he decided to become an urologist and became a specialist in 2001. Attracted by the rapid development in endourology, he spent one year in Scotland, worked under Mr David Tolley, and gained extensive experience in endo-laparoscopic surgery and stone management.
After completion of his training, Dr Ng decided to join the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006 and is currently Professor of the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has a wide range of interest, in particular in prostate diseases, urolithiasis, and promotion of men’s health. He was also honored with the Outstanding Young Urologist Ward in 2010 by the Asian Congress of Urology, the International Guest Scholar 2012 of the American College of Surgeons, the Achievement award from the World Chinese Urology Association in the American Urological Association 2014 and the Outstanding Contribution Award by the International Alliance of Urolithiasis 2017.He is also the founding Chairman of Asian Urological Surgery Training and Education Group (AUSTEG).
ABSTRACT: Single port robotic prostatectomy
Dr Rha is currently the Director of NAVER Healthcare Lab. He is also a member of the Fellow, American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Past President in the Engineering and Urology Society, USA and Expert in International Healthcare Subject Matter Experts (US Department of Army). His postdoctorial training was from Society for Urology and Engineering Fellow, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He has been involved in 350 peer-reviewed scientific publication and more than 3700 robotic cases in clinical experiences. He was also involved in Live Surgery/ Proctorship in 15 different countries including USA, France and Italy.
Prof Shiroki is currently the Director of Fujita Health University School of Medicine, Nagoya, Aichi Japan. He is also the Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Urology, Fujita Health University School of Medicine, Aichi, Japan. He is a Board Member of the Japan Urology Association, Board of Directors in the Japanese Society of Endourology, Board Member of the Japanese Society of Urologic Oncology, Board Member in the Japanese Society of Urologic Oncology and an International member in the American Urological Association (AUA). He was also the President of the Japanese Society of Robotic Surgery in 2019.
ABSTRACT: Nightmare in robotic partial nephrectomy
Dr. Gyung Tak Mario Sung has been a faculty member of the Department of Urology, Dong-A University College of Medicine since 1993. From July 1997 to June 1999, he has received 2-year advanced fellowship training in the section of Advanced Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Glickman Urological Institute, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF), Cleveland, Ohio, USA. From Jan. 2000 to Sept. 2002, he has served as the faculty member of the Glickman Urological Institute, the CCF, Cleveland, Ohio. He has been appointed as the president of the Asian Society of Endourology (ASE) since Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2018. He has been working as the deputy secretary general of the Asian School of Urology, Urological Association of Asia (UAA) since March 2012 to now. He has also served as a consulting editor of the editorial board in “Urology” journal from 2012-2016.
In addition, he has been appointed as an associate editor of the Asian Journal of Urology (AJU) since 2013. Recently, he has served as the vice president of the Korean Urological Association from 2014- 2018. Notably, he has served as an executive in the board of chairmen of Society of International Urology (SIU) from 2015-2018. In 2018, he has served as co-chair of the LOC of 2018 SIU meeting which was held in Oct., 2018 at Seoul, Korea. Currently, he is the president of Asian Robotic Urologic Society (ARUS) under UAA governance since Jan. 2019.
Dr Jeremy Teoh is currently the Assistant Dean (External Affairs) and Assistant Professor of the Faculty of medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has primary interests in bladder cancer and prostate cancer. For bladder cancer, he is leading a multi-centre randomized controlled trial on transurethral en bloc resection of bladder tumour. He has also developed a global consensus statement to standardize the en bloc resection approach. For prostate cancer, he has published extensively on the adverse events related to androgen deprivation therapy. He has also helped conduct a clinical trial on the use of the da Vinci Single-Port Surgical System in radical prostatectomy. Jeremy has received numerous research grants with a total funding of more than HKD 30 million. He has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as European Urology, Journal of Urology and BJU International. He is currently the Chairperson of the Younger Fellows Chapter of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong, and he has been the Director of the Lions Kidney Educational Centre & Research Foundation since 2016. He is also the founder of the UroSoMe (Urology Social Media) working group and he believes that social media plays an important role in the modern era of medicine.

Dr Yuh-Shyan Tsai is a urological professor in Dpartment of urology at National Cheng Kung University Hospital, College of medicine, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He was graduated from Kaohsiung Medical College in South Taiwan, and obtained Ph D from National Cheng Kung University. He also received post-Doc training at university of Texas southwestern medical center at Dallas. Clinically, he received resident training at NCKUH. Currently, he is a attending urologist and professor in NCKU. He is good at urological oncology and Da Vinci Robotic surgery.
Wu Shengde, Associate Professor, Associate Chief Physician of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China. He is the member of the urodynamic and pelvic collaboration group of the Pediatric Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the Pediatric Andrology Group of the Andrology, the Senior Medical Talents Program of Chongqing for Young and Middle-aged. He is the first youth committee member of the professional committee, and the communication review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His research were supported by 4 National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 1 general project of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. He won 1 prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education.
Prof Xie is currently the Chairman, Department of Urology First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine since 2007. He is also the Adjunct Secretary General of Urological Association of Asia since 2018 and Vice-President of Chinese Urological Association since 2013. Prof. Xie devotes to studies on Uro-oncology and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. He has published 197 peer-reviewed articles, 20 book chapters and obtained 15 patents, and was awarded ELSEVIER 2020 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers.
Prof. Xie has innovatively developed a series of new procedures to treat BPH, including Transurethral Vapor Enucleation and Resection of the Prostate (TVERP), Transurethral Vapor Enucleation of the Prostate (TVEP) and Ultrasound-navigated TVERP/TVEP. He has been invited to show live surgeries of BPH many times in Germany, India, Hong Kong and the innovative procedures were also transmitted live from Hangzhou to Rome during Annual Meeting of Society of Italian Urology. Prof. Xie has cooperated with German colleague Prof. Tillmann Loch to develop new techniques for early detection of the prostate cancer with Artificial Intelligence Ultrasound.
Prof. Xie also served as a bridge linking Europe and China and contributed greatly to many collaborative programs with EAU, such as Chinese Urology Education Program (CUEP), World Chinese Urologists Joint Session during EAU Annual Meeting and EAU Guideline Office Exchange Project.
Dr. Hsin-Chih Yeh is an Associate Professor of Urology at Kaohsiung Medial University, where he also received his medical degree (M.D.), master degree (M.S.) and doctorate of philosophy (Ph.D.). He completed his residency training at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital and became a diplomate in Urology since 2008. He is an attending urologist and a cancer database management physician at Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital. Dr. Yeh’s clinical practice spans the complete spectrum of urology, including prostate diseases, genitourinary oncology, urinary calculi, female urology, andrology and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Yeh has been actively involved in clinical, basic and translational research on urologic malignancies. Since Taiwan has the highest incidence of upper tract urothelial carcinoma in the world, he devoted himself to this endemic cancer and published more than 30 related papers. Dr. Yeh has been repeatedly funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan and his service organizations. He focuses on prognostic research to develop integrated models and future precision oncology. He also instructs medical students and residents to conduct clinical and basic research. He was once rated as an outstanding mentor and excellent teacher. His research was awarded by Kaohsiung Medical University and the European Association of Urology.
Prof Guohua Zeng is the Vice-director of The first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. He is also the President of the Guangdong provincial urological association, Co-chairman and Secretary General of International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU), Director of the Certified fellowship program by Endourology Society and an Associate board member of EULIS.
He was the inventor of Super-Mini-PCNP (SMP) and has performed more than 35000 Mini-PCNL procedures together with his team with good clinical outcome. He has trained 9400 Chinese residents and has more than 165 international residents from 40 countries trained in their Endoscopic training center.
Professor Huixia Zhou is the Director of Department of Pediatric Urology of Bayi Children’s Hospital, affiliated of the Seventh Medical Center of PLA General Hospital since 2009. She graduated from Tongji Medical college of HUST with a Doctor Degree in 2009.
She is the Chairman of Pediatric Urological Group of Chinese Urological Association (CUA), Chairman of Abnormality Surgery Committee, Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Standing Member of Medical Robotic Committee, Chinese Urological Doctor Association. She was awarded the “International Female Urologist Leader” by AUA, “Nezha Award” (the Outstanding Pediatric Urologist of the Year) by CUA.
